In the Arboretum
In the Arboretum
Poem, inspired by Psalm 1 and John 15
Oh how I want to be a tree with mighty branches, sunsoaked leaves,
and birds in my arms
Oh how I long to push up from this dry ground,
for my roots to grow deep,
for spring
The LORD tells me that He plants me by living water—
a source that will never run out
Still I doubt
that my shoots will ever burst forth
Oh Father,
I will believe without seeing
Oh Father,
how can I not see?
Your Creation is before me—
many mighty trees are in my midst
How gentle and patient is your pruning hand
